Since our establishment in 1995, we have
been fully committed to building a fibre-optic network to
better serve our customers' needs. As a result, HGC today
owns and operates one of the largest "fibre-to-the-building" telecommunications networks in Hong Kong. This state-of-the-art
telecommunications network consists of more than 5,300 kilometres
of ducting and over 945,000 kilometres of core fibre optic
cable, a length that can go around the earth some 24 times.
Leveraging our self-built fibre optic network, we have gained a firm foothold in the local fixed network industry. HGC delivers unsurpassed services to diverse users, spanning business and residential customers, schools, hospitals, local communities as well as other network carriers. Our core services include Internet Access Services, Data Services, Voice Services, and International Connectivities.
To enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness as
a major communications hub in the region, HGC's aim is to
contribute a global telecommunications network that ensures
Hong Kong emerges as one of the most connected cities in the
world. Our HGC network has been directly connected to China
Telecom's Synchronous Digital Hierarchy Ring since 2000, making
us the first new fixed network provider in Hong Kong to offer
direct telecommunications links with the Mainland.HGC was also
the first new fixed telecommunications network services operator
in Hong Kong to complete a Mainland-HK network interconnection with
a 10Gbit/s capacity with China Netcom
in early 2004. Since 2000, HGC has self-financed and constructed
fibre optic cable systems at Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To and Lo Wu to
provide cross-border telecom services for its customers. With Hong
Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor fibre optic cable system in operation
in August 2008, HGC now boasts the largest number of cross-border
routings in Hong Kong. Each routing provides multiple of ten to one
hundred gigabit-per-second (Gbps) capacity. Backed by an abundant
level of fibre cores, the system provides Hong Kong's biggest cross-border capacity.
Riding on the solid foundations firmly entrenched
in the local telecommunications market, HGC is racing ahead
as a regional telecommunications carrier with the rapid extension
of an international network, which provides instant connectivities
to major cities in regions including Asia, North America and
Europe. To support our global expansion, HGC has also established representative offices in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and
overseas offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Los Angeles in the US to serve our customers worldwide.
Every member of the HGC team is fully committed to providing quality services that offer total satisfaction to our customers. We have recently been named one of the Best Global Partners by a major fixed-line operator in Mainland China for the second time, highlighting the industry's recognition of our comprehensive service efforts.
At HGC, we will continue to expand and develop our fibre-optic network, which will help to shape the future of Hong Kong's telecommunications industry and facilitate a barrier-free platform where the global community can enjoy the freedom to communicate and transact their business throughout the world.
